Blue Yonder and Cable To Vie for Favoritism Phidias Also to Command Much Support in Yankee Handicap SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 6. — An early size-up of the probable field for the 11th running of the 5,000 Yankee Handicap makes it evident that it is strictly between Mrs. E. H. Augustus Blue Yonder and Mrs. A. Wickfelds Cable, as to who will go to the post as the favorite in Saturdays rnle and three -sixteenths test for three-year-olds. It appears that the field, in addition to the above, will consist of Weston Adams Gay Moonbeam, J. and A. Beatties Linwood Wag, Brosnan and Halleys Danny J., William Helis Phidias, Mrs. D. Hollingsworths Kendor, Marilyn Stables Laboulaye, Mississauga Stables Chance Player and Morris Wexlers On the River. Blue Yonder and Cable are expected to receive the bulk of the public support because of their most recent efforts. The former accounted for the Cohasset, a prep race for Yankee eligibles very impressively last Monday and will probably be sent to the post a slight favorite over Cable. The latter will receive considerable support as the result of his improving effort to finish third behind Assault and Natchez in the mile and a half of the Belmont Stakes. Both horses are in with 109 pounds, but, off their records, the wegihts will favor Cable to some extent because he is dropping 16 pounds off the 126 -pound impost he carried in the Belmont under the conditions of that event. Johnny Adams is slated to do the riding on Blue Yonder, while the veteran Herb Lindberg, who rode Phidias to victory in the Constitution last Saturday, transfers his allegiance to Cable. Ferril Zufelt will take over the assignment on Phidias. The Helis colt, who was assigned 105 pounds by racing secretary John P. Turner and picked up a three-pound penalty as the result of his Constitution score, probably will be backed down to odds only slightly more than those of Blue Yonder and Cable. The chestnut son of Rosemont was a galloping winner of the Constitution and disposed of his rivals so easily that he cant help but attract a great deal of support on the strength of that assignment. Behind Blue Younder, Cable and Phidias, it is difficult to pick out a horse capable of challenging for the top money. Most of them have been seen in action around here this season and appear to be ordinary three-year-olds. Gay Moonbeam probably will be entered, but if an "off" track prevails will not start. Chance Player is a promising sort, but trainer Frank Gilpin does not expect too much of him In this kind of company.
