Armed Bedded Down at Arlington Park; Makes Trip From East Without Mishap Handicap Champion Likely j To Be Pointed for Seven Stakes During Meeting ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 6. — The Calumet Farms gaudy Armed, who already has proven himself one of the greatest geldings of all time and who is being compared in some quarters with the great Exterminator, headed the contingent of horses who arrived at Arlington Park this afternoon. The story book horse, who for a short time was used for saddle purposes, came in a special car from New York, where his latest conquest was the historic Suburban Handicap. Venerable Ben Jones was on hand to greet his latest champion, who has been conditioned in the East by his son, Jimmy Jones. Jones senior has been busy preparing the large string of younger Calumet racers who will be seen under colors during the forthcoming session, which gets under way June 17. Armed, a hardy horse who takes long shipping hauls, frequent racing and high weights without flinching, made the trip without incident and appeared to be in fine condition. The good four-year-old filly, Twosy, was also in the Calumet shipment. A five-year-old son of Bull Lea — Armful, Armed has been nominated for all the stakes for older horses during the meeting. If he retains his present superlative form, Armed will be pointed for possibly seven stakes during the meeting. He has ; been made eligible for the Clang Handicap, Equipoise Mile, Myrtle wood Stakes, Domino Handicap, Stars and Strikes Handicap and I Grassland Handicap turf, and Arlington i Handicap which carry a total value of I 25,000 in added money. Among other prominent arrivals during the day were a number of the horses owned by Mrs. Ada L. Rice, under the care of I Carl A. "Slim" Roles. Included in the Rice contingent of some 1 20 head were the worlds record-holder r Snow Boots, Sirde and Richmond Jac.
