Estimate 250 Horses Now On Hand at Monmouth Pardue and Niles Arrive With Strings From Middle West MONMOUTH PARK, Long Branch, N. J., June 6. — Although the management has announced that the opening of its inaugural meeting has been postponed from June 10 to June 19 because of construction delays, the northern New Jersey plant continues to become the destination of many of the leading racing establishments in the country. According to general manager Edward J. Brennan, approximately 250 horses already are quartered at Monmouth and the group was swelled considerably by the arrival of several stables today. Barring additional rain, horses are expected to work over the new track over the week-end. One of the leading stables to reach Monmouth today was that owned by Hyman Friedberg estate and trained by Homer Pardue. Heading the stable is the good mare, Harriet Sue, while the others include Bold Betty Jo, Winning Lass, Bolo Miss, Pansy Brigade, Bolo Girl, Bolo Pet and Bolo Trudy. Arriving from Illinois this morning was the small, but useful, public stable trained by Lee Niles. In the group were Bull Play, who has been nominated to several of Monmouths rich stakes, and Duck Berry, Dove ONight, Big A, Mr. R. S., and an unnamed two-year-old filly. Far behind in their construction schedule because of an unprecedented amount of rainfall, the past few weeks, President Amory L. Haskell, and his associates asked for an received a nine-day postponement of their original June 10 opening date. Approval was granted by the New Jersey State Racing Commission following a conference at the track. It is quite possible that the commission may grant Monmouth Park an extension late in the season to make up for the days thus lost in the original 36-day span.
