■ Spangled Game Outclasses Rivals In Dartmouth Purse at Suffolk One-to-Two Choice Romps t To Wire Two and One-Half Lengths Before Float Me SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 6. — In with a feather and running as if he really were out for a romp, Spangled Game, owned by Mrs. R. Metcalf and Ber-Mar Farm, jogged home an easy winner in the Dartmouth Purse, sixth and feature race of an ordinary Suffolk Downs program here today before 17,381 enthusiasts. Spangled Game was made the one -two choice and he made just one move as he went by his rivals to win the big share of the ,500 event over a mile and a sixteenth. Second was C. F. Herrmanns Float Me, carrying 120 pounds and third was the pacemaker, William Helis Adonis. The victory of Spangled Game was the second for a favorite in the first six races on the program and apprentice Joe Licausi made no mistakes with the odds-on choice. Spangled Game usually carried 120 pounds or more, but this time carried only 106 pounds, there being a three -pound overweight. The only thing that could happen to him was bad racing luck and the five-year-old Reigh Count gelding had no trouble at all. He was rated well off the pace as Adonis went to the front and stayed there by at least two lengths right up to the turn for home. At the half-mile pole, Licausi took the overland route with Spangled Game and at the eighth pole he was in command, eventually drawing clear to win by more than two lengths. Adonis held on until the final 70 yards when Continued on Page Thirty Spangled Game Outclasses Dartmouth Purse Rivals Continued from Page One Float Me challenged up for the place money while Franklin Stables Chuck took the fourth portion of the purse. In the secondary feature, a three-quarter dash, C. Rufis Mintlock showed that he was ready to be one of New Englands sprint stars again as he broke well, was close to the pace and won rather neatly over A. Ryans Mar DEsprit.
