Friars Fancy Captures Royal Hunt Cup ASCOT, England, June 19. Reuters. With King George VI. looking on, O. V. Watneys Friars Fancy captured the ,000 Royal Hunt Cup today on the second program of the traditional four-day Ascot meeting. The winner, by Wychwood Abbot, out of Fascinator, finished the seven-furlong and 155-yard course three lengths in front of Slide On, with the topweight Poolfix two lengths farther back in third place in the field of .16. Friars Fancy started at 15 to 2 and was ridden by jockey E. P. H. Smith, who also won yesterdays featured event. The score marked Friars Fancys first victory since 1944 and his second in 16 outings. His sire, Wychwood Abbot, won the Cambridgeshire 12 years ago.
