Rodriguez; bred by W. F. Sparks. WENT TO POST-5:291. OFF AT 5:301 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. HOT SPARK, on the inside and reserved to the stretch, was taken to the middle of the track for the drive and, responding to brisk handling, disposed of the leaders and won drawing clear. DONNA BRAND, on the outside and outrun to the final quarter, came stoutly when roused approaching the stretch, then made a game bid, but was not good enough for the winner. TOPIC, slow to begin and outrun early, finished strongly on the outside. DEVILS ISLAND, a sharp factor from the beginning, held a short lead when settled in the stretch, but weakened nearing the finish. GAY TOWN had a rough trip. DROLLON lacked early speed. SANDSLINGER, in close quarters on the final turn, failed to recover. POWDERED MILK quit. LADY KENTUCKY quit.
