Heres Me in Half-Mile Move for Betsy Ross Breezes. Distance in :49 in Prep for Week-End Fixture SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 20. Fred Wyses Heres Me, a winner last time out, signalized her readiness for her assignment in the 0,000 Betsy Ross stakes, five and one-half furlongs event for two-year-old fillies, which will feature the week-end card here. By breezing a half mile in :49 over a fast track this morning. The Longchamps Farms Valiente, Far-zaile and Sarnos Wise Brunette and the Reynolds brothers Miss Marietta, three other eligibles for the Betsy Ross, prepped for Saturdays engagement in the fourth race on Wednesday. Of these Valiente, making her first start, showed to best advantage, while finishing a well-beaten third to the more experienced Silee and O. G. Kelley. Andy Blakely, veteran conditioner of the Longchamps string, was well-pleased with Valientes showing. The bay daughtei of Bull Dog Donita M., is a well-conformed bay miss with a high turn of speed, but she raced rather greenly with her head high in the air in her debut and will probably improve with blinkers and under the handling of a veteran rider. Wise Brunette and Miss Marietta turned in creditable efforts. The former set the pace for a time, but could not match strides with Silee and tired to finish sixth. Others scheduled to start in the Betsy Ross are Alfred Richers Fleet West, Oran Lodge Stables Gemet, Circle M Ranchs Sugar Pill, Glenwood Farms Fair Cross, Mrs. Harris Browns Rosalee and C. V. Whitneys Mother. Just who will be sent to the post as the favorite in this event appears to be rather obscure now, but public support will probably be spread between Mother, Fair Cross, Sugar Pill, Fleet West and Heres Me. The latter two will be well backed on their showings over this racing strip.
