GOLDEN ARROW was slow to begin and was forced wide rounding the stretch turn, then finished with a rush to draw away. WHATUCALLUM was hustled into command and showed speed, but hung in the final furlong. PICARDY BELLE improved her position when roused, made a determined bid in the stretch, then faltered. TOM "FERRIS was sent through on the inside for the stretch run. MISS YAM tired badly. PAL CROSS, fractious at the post, fell and unseated rider. He had a flash of early speed. TANRACKIN, a prominent factor from the beginning and on the outside, bobbled at the twelfth fence, recovered quickly and, under pressure, outlasted KITTIWHISK in the final drive. The latter was kept forwardly from the beginning while jumping well and had no mishap. FROTHY could not menace the leaders. LINKS BOY trailed far behind the field.
