Johnny Longden Rides His 2,500ih Winner HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 20. Few jockeys ever win 1,000 races, still fewer have ever won 2,000, yet Johnny Longden made it an even 2,500 when he rode Sam Bergers Easy Gold to victory in the third race at Hollywood Park Tuesday. Longden, the English-born veteran, has now ridden more winners than any other jockey in the history of the American turf and no jockey now active appears to be within striking distance of his remarkable record. Longden, incidentally, is scheduled to leave Friday for New York where he will ride Walter M. Jeffords Mahout in several stakes engagements and also expects to return to Chicago to ride Spy Song in one or more stake races. Longden will, however, be back at Hollywood Park in the near future, as he will continue to travel by air to fulfill his stakes engagements.
