Nine Sprinters to Seek Col. Bob Baker Purse High Ego and Wee Admiral Have Running Mates in Detroit Feature FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 20. The Col. Bob Baker Purse brings together a good band of three-year-old sprinters to headline tomorrows card at Detroit. Nine are named in seven interests for this, including Ray Ankenbauers High Ego, and Mrs. E. Farris Dicks Gal, who are coupled, and a pair from the stable of R. S. McLaughlin. The Canadian sportsman will give Wee Admiral a chance to atone for his weak showing in his initial appearance here recently and he will have Hyperhelio as a running mate. High Ego was a creditable second to his stablemate. Cashier, when that filly accounted for the Sport of Kings Handicap last Saturday, and should again give a good account of himself. Mrs. G. C. Whites Bright Steel is not overmatched with this competition and he can be expected to retain his present good form regardless of track conditions. A six-furlong sprint and a gallop of a mile and a sixteenth under identical conditions except for the distances, top the better than average supporting card. To be run as the sixth and seventh races and titled the Charlie Boots and C. T. Worth-ington respectively, these are fashioned for horses carrying claiming tags from 0,000 to ,500. Eleven have been named for the former sprint, including a pair from Johr Farm, while the limit of a dozen have been named for the distance test, including entries of two each from Grissom and Sherman, Jesse Trent and Mrs. Lottie Wolf. With the probability of the track reaching a good condition unless more rain intervenes, these two tests attracted very evenly matched fields. In the Charlie Boots, the Johr Farm pair of See D. and Bill G. hold a strong hand. The former accounted for his latest venture, taking a narrow decision from M. H. Vanbergs Take Courage, who opposes him again here. Bill G., also took major honors in his latest outing providing proof of the present condition of the Johr representatives. The defeat that Take Courage sustained from See D followed three consecutive successes for the consistent son of Grand t Slam. The rematching of this pair should prove keenly interesting. Grissom and Shermans Unconditional had no chance when he broke in a tangle last trip and with better racing fortune he should make his presence felt in the C. T. Worthington. Jesse Trents Galaprox came from far back in the early running of his latest venture to finish fourth and could be troublesome with more early speed. The Mrs. Lottie Wolf pair of Our All and Bona-lita were both winners in their most recent outings and should be able to turn back the others. The limit number of starters in races for novice riders has been increased from 8 to 10 and a full field is engaged in the first race.
