► , Chicago Handicap Brings Out Eleven Juke Box Topweighted Under 128 Pounds for Closing-Day Feature at Sportsmans Park SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 9. — It is a splendid card that racing secretary Horace Wade has arranged for closing day tomorrow at Sportsmans Park. The ,000 mile and a sixteenth Chicago Handicap tops the program and is surrounded by good supporting races, including a seven furlongs claiming race for horses valued at 0,000, and a mile and five furlongs race, a very popular event over this half-mile course. In the Chicago, 11 of the original 14 nominations were named through the entry box, including Joenace Stables high-weight, Juke Box. A handy winner of the Hawthorne Handicap at the Chicago distance and a smashing second in the Inaugural on opening day, the popular son of Maedic is asked to pick up five pounds to 128 over his Hawthorne weight. Despite his steadying impost, it is likely that Juke Box will come in for stout support. Next in the matter of weights in the Chicago is Walloon, who was claimed by Mrs. Sam Gorbet, of Hudson, 111., from his latest race, where he carried an ,000 claiming tag. In that test, Walloon was beaten only a half a length while carrying 126 pounds. The son of Flares gets into the Chicago under 113 pounds and could become a distinct threat by a peak effort. Petsome Fogelson Representative Petsome will sport the silks of Ben Fogelson, and under 112 pounds the daughter of Petrose must be held in respect. Her present fitness was attested by her victory at last asking in the six and a half furlongs Wedgewood Purse. Virden and Scott will send Bank Balance to the post under 111 pounds in an effort to have the son of Endy duplicate his victory in the Inaugural in which he led home, among others, Juke Box. Under the same weight, W. T. Beezleys recent acquisition, Jodas Joe, will attempt to repeat his score the other day over Walloon. Felix Randos Camps First, fresh from a victory at Churchill Downs, flashed early speed in his lone local outing the other day and may last long enough to earn a part of this purse. Dots Risk will represent the partnership of Kirkpatrick and Turner. Forced to accept second honors to Juke Box in the Hawthorne, the Wise Counsellor filly was an easy winner of the Woodlawn in her previous outing. Hilltop Stock Farms Top-nard has a third in the Hawthorne as a recommendation, and Happy Hour Farms Cherry Wine gave a good account of himself in his engagement on Thursday by showing early speed before finishing fourth. Beezleys Lightfoot Lady, the latter a sta-blemate of Jodas Joe, complete the Chicago field. It is a clever band of seven shifty sprinters that will meet in the seven-furlong fifth race under 0,000 claiming tags. In the nightcap Vancura and Hudlik will send their Brilliant gelding Brilliant Jr. after his fifth consecutive score at the meeting.
