Saint Nicholas Works Mile And Eighth Route in 1 :53% WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., June 3. — Saint Nicholas, the Brown Hotel Stable representative who leaves here Saturday for Belmont Park, was asked to work a mile and one-eighth this morning by his trainer, Tom Hill. The three-year-old son of Psychic Bid — Santa received his final serious trial at this point in preparation for the Belmont Stakes, to be run June 11 at the Elmont, L. I., course. Saint Nicholas had jockey Harold Keene, who is slated to ride him in the Belmont Stakes, aboard this morning as he covered the distance in 1:53% over a dry strip. Dorsey, another of the J. Graham Brown racers, accompanied Saint Nicholas the final six furlongs of the "drill. The latter was timed the half mile in :50, six furlongs in 1:16; completed a mile in 1:45 and 1:53% for the mile and one-eighth distance.
