Attention Mark Annexes Delaware Juvenile Race Withstands Determined Drive To Take Measure of Post Card DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 3. — Attention Mark, a juvenile son of Attention and Night Market, and one of the few homebreds in Bruce Livies Bobanet Stable, won his second consecutive race when he took the measure of eight other two-year-olds in the featured Delmar Purse here this afternoon. The fourth triumph of the young meeting for apprentice Benny Civitello, Attention Mark withstood a determined stretch drive and was home by almost a length, while covering five furlongs in :59 flat. Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Post Card and Circle M Farms Our Tops, both of whom are eligible for the Christiana and Dover Stakes, were the other money horses, separated by a neck. Our Tops was an odds-on choice with the crowd of approximately 8,000, while Attention Mark paid 5.30. Attention Mark broke third in the field, but attained command almost immediately, shaking off Post Card todraw clear. The Jeffords colt attempted several times to move to Attention Mark, but each time his bid was turned back. Our Tops was just off the pair and racing along easily. When Willie Lee Johnson turned Our Tops loose on the turn, his mount became rank and endeavored to get out with him, forcing the rider to again resort to steady- . ing tactics. This enabled the leaders to again draw clear as the field entered the home lane. Civitello had given Attention Mark a breather on the turn, but he was forced to rouse him sharply during the late stages as he shortened stride in the final sixteenths Post Card, continued on gamely and just managed to take the place from Our Tops, who may have been best.
