, I Thirty-Seven Horses Auctioned at Belmont Tavistock Brings Top Price On 0,800 Bid by Godfrey BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 3.— A couple of horses, who as yearlings were purchased by Frank Frankel for 8,000 and 1,000, respectively, were included in the sale held this morning. They, of fashionable parentage, Full Force and Furthermore, were knocked down to their new owners for ,200 and ,600. J. C. Vidal secured Full Force and the veteran Steve Judge, acting as agent, was identified as the purchaser of Furthermore on his bid of ,600. This sale began a weeding out process in the menage of the Long Islander to make room for new replacements later on. The sale was the second and final under the Fasig-Tipton auspices and this morning a miscellaneous collection of horses in racing was conducted. Bidding on the lots offered was on the listless side and the crowd, composed of bargain hunters, failed to respond to the pleas of the hammer wielder. Thirty-seven horses were sold for a grand total of 3,-250, or an average of ,710. The star of the sale was the five-year-old Tavistock from the A. RJ»lock consignment. This fellow attracted brisk bidding, but when the price reached 0,000 many dropped out. He was sold to Phillip Godfrey on his bid of 0,800. Next to him in value was Conservation, a two-year-old son of Maxim and Conservancy. This fellow, a chestnut, went to C. B. Fishback on his bid of ,200. He was consigned by the estate of W. H. Labrot. Apocape, from the H. P. Headley consignment, brought ,000 and went to Mrs. Andrew Schuttinger, while the same amount was paid for Podium from the George D. Widener lot. Gilbert Gay secured this one.
