GAINSAY, outrun in the early stages, moved boldly through the last three furlongs and wore down MAID OF AFTON. The latter established the pace, turned back repeated challenges, but could not resist the winner. SHE DARES reached the first flight from the outside in the early stretch, then hung. POTATO CAKE threatened after six furlongs and tired. MISS COVERY rallied only mildly. FANFORAN flattened out badly. WATER MELON was used up pressing the pace. MRS. ALMAC quit, BOLD MOUSE quit early. ACE SCHOLAR was slow to respond and could not seriously threaten. GREEN BEAU showed speed from the outside and weakened. YES SHE WILL vied for the lead to the stretch and quit to a walk. LOCAL OPTION flattened out badly after three furlongs. BALD KNOB broke tardily and showed nothing. Ml SCANDAL, in close quarters early, closed full of run. GRUMPITO rallied after a half mile, but was not good enough. BROAD CROSS was rank and raced well when clear. FAIR VISION flattened out after a half mile. CHEVY BONES was through early. AROSE was used up early. CRISS CROSS quit. UNAIDED showed nothing. OWLET quit to a walk. JERRYS BEST wrested command on the turn and drew clear thereafter to win handily. ALEMANNIA rallied to the stretch and failed to make up ground in the final test. GREAT HOPE moved boldly when able to secure room along the inside entering the stretch, then hung. TACARO MILKMAN was much used while racing with the pace and faltered. TUMBLE BOY moved menacingly in the early stretch and tired. MARY LIKE weakened, as did DRIDAS. MARY ANN flatted out badly. ATTENTION MARK outsprinted the field from soon after the start, saved ground to the stretch and withstood a late drive. POST CARD made several attempts to get to the leader, was unsuccessful, but was gaining in the final stages. OUR TOPS attempted to get out on the turn, raced wide through the stretch and closed full of run. SLICE broke alertly, but lacked speed to open up. The others failed to reach contention. DONNAS ACE raced in close attendance to the pace without need of urging, responded when urged, reached the leader at the furlong pole and proved best in the drive. WESTMINSTER held a commanding lead to the stretch and tired. HERE I AM hung in the final test PLANE SHADOW was in close quarters in the vicinity of the half-mile pole. SMALL STUFF broke tardily. ASTRAL, allowed to settle in stride, saved ground early in his rally, reached the leader boldly in midstretch and had to be roused sharply. FOREST KNIGHT, taken under steadying restraint when shuffled back on the inside of COUGAR early, displaced that one leaving the backstretch, but could not resist the winner. COUGAR opened the early lead and tired. CANADA failed to threaten. WAYGOOD GIRL tired. POMPEYS HERO showed speed, quit and came back sore. Scratched— 75408 Larry D., 113.
