— — — — — Merry Scout, Good Australian Race Horse, May Come to U. S. MELBOURNE, Australia, May 3 Reuters. — One of Victorias best race horses, Merry Scout, who is by Kinder Scout, out of Merry Laughter, will be sent to the United States with the other horses purchased by T. F. Ryan, of Three Rivers Ranch in New Mexico, if they pass inspec tion of two veterinary surgeons tomorrow. O. R. Porter, who owns Merry Scout, would not disclose the price Ryan agreed to pay for the horse, but said it was a "high-figure." The other Australian horses bought by Ryan are Wessex and two unnamed fillies. The Melbourne turf writer, "Cardigan," says trainer Des McCormick will accompany the horses and train them for Ryan. Merry Scout won five races as a two-year-old and this season has been successful twice. He has won in stakes company and runs a good mile. He should do well in the United States if he strikes his best form.
