Jerry A. Hanover Tries For Fifth Score in Row Spud Hanover Gelding Vies With Way Yonder and Allen Spencer AURORA DOWNS, Aurora, HI., May 22. — Jerry A. Hanover, currently the No. 1 trotter racing in the Midwest, will place his four-race win "streak on the block in the two-trip Orgeon Trot, 14 Class early closing event, at Aurora Downs Wednesday night. The tireless seven-year-old Spud Hanover — Jochebed bay gelding, owned by H. W. Burright, Springfield, HI., has captured four of five starts this meeting. His latest achievement was recorded in a free-for-all trot Saturday night. He racked up a.com-fortable margin in the 6% furlongs heat, covering the distance in 142 flat and then came back with a 2:07.2 for an easier decision. Tomorrow Jerry A. Hanover tangles with nine other aged performers, namely, Fay Spencer, Way Yonder, Private" Pat, Gene Long, Pay Up, Allen Spencer, Oh Johnny, Buddy Patchen and Spud Hart. Harry Burrights entry drew fourth for the first dash and ninth for the nightcap. Way Yonder, coupled with Fay Spencer as the Barker Stable entry, gained the pole for the .first trip, while Buddy Patchen drew the coveted position the second heat. Of this stake field, Allen Spencer is the only trotter who hasnt started at Aurora Downs this meeting. However, the 11-year-old Spencer bay gelding started four times at Ybnkers Raceway this season. His best trip ,was a second behind Edward Song in 209. He also was fourth, just 2 lengths behind Famous Song, in a 208 mile. Mel Ehnerd arrived with Allen Spenofr over the week-end and, on the basis of his first workout over the Downs main course, railbirds are of the opinion that he may surprise them all. Concert Master, five-year-old Volomite pacer, owned by the Trusler Farms, Madison, Wis., will make his initial 1951 start in the eighth race Wednesday. The promising sidewheeler, formerly owned by K. D. Owen, Houston, Texas, has a-mark of 204.3 over a mile track. Red Stine~has the horse in his stable this year and finds his campaigner facing Kitty Kat, Pokadot, Symbol Adam, Scotty Direct, Court Lawful, Dalemont and Mr. D. Grattan in his opening bid for Midwest recognition.
