General Purse Increase In Effect at Hollywood HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewdod, Calif., May 22. — Two important overnight handicaps are on tap at Hollywood Park this week, and as part of the general purse increase of over ,000 a day, these handicaps, the San Pedro on Friday and the Santa Monica on Saturday have been boosted to ,500 and 0,000 respectively. The San Pedro, at seven furlongs, is expected to attract such sophomore stars as Gold Capitol, Interpretation and Gold Note, while the Santa Monica, also at seven furlongs, is expected to be the next start for Citation, if he continues his long road comeback toward his million-dollar goal. The ,000 daily increase in purses was installed by vice .president and general manager Jack F. Mackenzie, with four days of the first condition book still to go, but was a result of the increased attendance and handle at the current meeting. Mackenzie said Hollywood Park "wished to share this increased business with the horsemen." £ J » i - 1
