Suspension Prevents Shoemaker Riding in Stakes on Saturday HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 5. Jockey Willie Shoemaker is deprived of the opportunity of handling Correlation in the Belmont Stakes on that day or, for that matter, accepting a mount in the 00,000 Californian next Saturday. Shoemaker received a five-day suspension from the Hollywood Park stewards for coming over too sharply with Modern World in the Westchester Stakes on Thursday and causing interference soon after the start. Under a new policy here, jockeys are not permitted to fill engagements previously contracted for while they are under suspension. Shoemaker said that he doesnt know what effect his inability to handle Correlation in the Belmont will have on trainer Noble Threewitts plans for the R. S. Lytle three-year-old. Threewitt is now in New York.
