Ohio Notes THISTLEDOWN, Warrensville, Ohio, June 5. - One of the more powerful stables on the grounds is that owned by M. R. "Buddy" Hamar of Cleveland. Hamar is a newcomer in the thoroughbred sport, but in the past year has purchased several good horses. Lotus Eater is the star of the unit which is trained by the veteran Jake Angher. William P. Burch and Lando Bressan, both patrol judges here, are graduates of the Cassidy school of officials in New York. Bressan for the past io years has been closely associated with Fred Colwill, Pim-licos racing secretary. Burch, a nephew of Preston Burch, trainer of the Brookmeade Stable, officiated at the New Orleans Fair Grounds last winter. Deverne Emery, who trains one of the leading public stables in the East, arrived here this morning and registered his horses. Emery trains for the Carolyn K Stable and Pittsburgher Syl Rich. A convenience to racing fans in this area as well as people who work at ThistleDown is the modern barber shop which is located , on the main floor of the grandstand. Leighton Cubbage is in charge of the shop. Cubbage, who is from Maryland, also operates tonsorial parlors at Laurel, Bowie and Hialeah Park.
