DAUMIER Niccolo dellArca-Donotello, by Mahmoud Daumier is one of the 21 Italian Derby winners bred by the late Federica Tesio one of the greatest thoroughbred breeders of all time. Daumiers sire Niccolo dellArca and his half-brother, Nearco also are among the 21, as is Donatello II., a three-quarters brother of Daumiers dam. Daumier entered stud in America this year after being imported by a syndicate to stand at the Stallion Station. His Gigantic won Belmonts Swift Stakes and the Louisiana Derby. Another son, Endon, recently won the Peabody Prep and then was third in the 5,000 Peabody Memorial, Chicagos first important three-year-old race for 1954. Challedon, himself, as a three-year-old was 1939s greatest money winner. Property of a Syndicate POLYNESIAN ISLANDER-STAKES WINNER NO. 9 Islander became Polynesians ninth stakes winner-by winning the colt division of the National Stallion S. It was the second win for a Polynesian in the Belmont fixture. Stakes winners now have come from each of Polynesians four crops of racing age.
