White Skies Has First Gallop Oyer Monmouth Park Course . OCEANPORT, N. J., June 5. White Skies, the eastern sprint champion owned by William M. Wickham, galloped for the first time over the Monmouth Park track yesterday in preparation for his engagement in the 5,000 Oceanport Handicap to be run opening day, June 12. The five-year-old horse, winner of all lour of his starts this year, including the Paumonok, Toboggan and Roseben Handicaps, was galloped once around the mile oval this morning. Trainer Tommy Root said his charge was not asked for too much, having just shipped in from New York Thursday afternoon. Root said he has not yet decided when White Skies will be given his first serious workout over the Monmouth track. "Hes coming along well and if everything is right he will start on opening day," Root added. In his last race, White Skies carried 135 pounds to victory in the Roseben Handicap at Belmont Park, completing the seven furlongs in the sparkling time of 1:22. Weights for the Oceanport Handicap will be announced Monday.
