NEAL went to the front at once, followed FANCY REWARD closely after being headed by the latter and, again taking command nearing the stretch turn, drew out, although going wide in the stretch, but was urged along at the end. FANCY REWARD went gamely after being headed and saved ground in the stretch. WOOD RUN trailed early, but was too good, for the others in the final drive. BLUE ROGER was never a serious contender. TOP SPINNER was never too far from the pace and, coming steadily in the center of the track, caught GLADFOOTE at midstretch to draw out thereafter. GLADFOOTE took a short lead in the stretch when AIR BATTLE began to weaken, but was unable to cope with the winner in the going. PHILNOR was under restraint while racing close to AIR BATTLE in the first part, but displayed but little when called upon. AIR BATTLE had early speed, but tired in the stretch. ADMIRALS PET evidently disliked the going and was allowed to gallop along a number of lengths back of the field most of the way. ATTRACT was never a serious contender. OLD FORGE was saved early and guided to the middle of the track for the stretch run, had no trouble heading the field entering the last sixteenth and winning easily. RUBES FOLLY came fairly well between horses in the stretch, but was no match for the winner. GOLDEN KING was always fairly well up in a steady effort. ALSAB ACE got through on the inside of HOOP MOOD after leaving the backstretch to take a short lead, then tired rather badly in the final furlong. FANCY GENT soon forged to the front of GALLANT D., and outrunning him down the backstretch, drew out nearing the stretch turn, but had to be hard ridden when LADY OF CHANCE moved up in the stretch. The lattt.r came steadily on the inside in the stretch and made up considerable ground on the winner. MARETAZO was outpaced but was good enough to pass tiring horses in the run home. RAZZOO was saved as much as possible while still remaining close to the pace in the first three furlongs, then moved steadily and, coming out for the stretch run, passed RE-SHUFFLE an eighth out and had enough left to hold WHIRL AWHILE. The latter was outrun early, but gained steadily on the outside in the stretch. COLUMBUS BOUND trailed early and closed a gap when called upon. RE-SHUFFLE opened up a good lead in the first part, but tired badly in the last eighth and fell after passing the finish. BOBESSAY and DOUBLE BARREL tired. Whirl Awhile claimed by L. H. Thompson.
