Lincoln Handicap Closes For Nominations Tonight 0,000 Event Will Highlight Saturdays June 19, Program LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., June 8. Racing secretary Larry Bogenschutz was reminding horsemen today that they have only until midnight Wednesday to make nominations for the mile and one-sixteenth Lincoln Handicap, for which the Lincoln Fields Racing Association this year has hung up 0,000 in added money. The Lincoln will be renewed on June 19, last Saturday of the current home-coming meeting, which comes to a close on the following Wednesday with the inauguration of a- new stake, the one-mile Au Re-voir Handicap. Subscriptions to the Lincoln are 0, with 00 additional to start. The 0,000 endowment is the largest in the long history of this Lincoln Fields fixture, being, in fact, twice as much as it was in its early days, when it was one of the most important handicaps in the country. Early winners of the Lincoln included Supremus, Chance Play, Toro, Blackwood, Lady Broadcast and Sun Beau. The late Col. Matt Winn, then controlling the destinies of Lincoln Fields, had statuettes made of those first six winners of the Lincoln Handicap, and the bronze figures now adorn the offices of the association. The upcoming renewal will be the twenty-seventh running of the handicap, which was established in 1926 and run each year since except in the depression years of 1932 and 1934.
