ELBRUZ was tardy at the start, moved along the outside while advancing thereafter to engage SUBWAY STRIKE a sixteenth .out, swerved in sharply bumping that one forty yards away and just lasted under continued urging. ELBRUZ was disqualified and placed .second for interfering with SUBWAY STRIKE near the finish. The latter hustled along early to gain command before going a quarter mile, drew clear while continuing wide into the stretch, rallied to pressure until bumped by ELBRUZ approximately forty yards out and held on stubbornly thereafter to narrowly miss. BERNMATTAR found his best stride too late to close strongly from between horses in the late stages. THE CHOSEN ONE moved within striking distance through the early stretch but could not gain through the closing furlong. SOUND N FURY was never a contender. GETAHEAD was always outrun. The latter, unhurried early, slipped through along the inner rail to make his belated bid and finished strongly. STRONG POINT loomed boldly through the early stretch but could not sustain his bid. BIG SWEEP, in hand early, collided with HOOP RlNGshortly after commencing his bid through the early stretch and lacked a rally when straightened away. TIM TAM, unhurried while being outrun early, commenced to advance along the inside after going a half mile, moved through in close quarters on the final turn and, when brought out between horses for the drive, he was fully extended to wear down LINCOLN ROAD near the end. LINCOLN ROAD made the pace under a well, judged ride, saved ground much of the way and held on_stubbornly in a long drive. NOUREDDIN, far baclrthrough the first six furlongs, circled his field when commencing his bid on the second tum, lost additional ground on entering the stretch and finished fastest of all in the middle of the track to be easily best of the others. JEWELS REWARD, in hand while maintaining a striking position along the outside, commenced to advance while continuing slightly wide on the final turn but could not gain through the final furlong when put to extreme pressure. MARTINS RULLAH closed a big gap in the late stages but could not seriously menace the top trio. GONE FISHIN loomed boldly on entering the stretch but had little left when the real test came. EBONY PEARL stopped badly after making a menacing bid on the stretch tum.-SILKY SULLIVAN Broke well but was allowed to stride while saving ground until the final turn where he made only a brief and ineffectual bid of less than one-sixteenth mile and refused, to extend himself thereafter.
