Mr. and Mrs. Jack Silverman were on hand yesterday to root for their starters, but alas and alack, second portion of the purse was the best available Trainer Moody Jolley, with a division of the A. B. Hancock stable, including Nadir, is due here next week. . . . Trainer James Fitz-simmons reported that Bold Ruler will be ridden by Eddie Arcaro in the Toboggan Handicap. . . . Word from the Lejeuhe Road Hospital, Coral Gables, Fla., is to effect that improvement in the condition of Mrs. John Bainton has been reported by the attending medics. . . . Jockey Sidney Cole, prior to going to Garden State for the featured offfering there, stated that he would be back here to accept mounts on Monday. . . . Starter George Cassidy re--ported that a pronounced drop in pupils at his schooling gate classes is in evidence. The absentee list is ascribed to the cough raging at Belmont Park. Belmont Condition Book Out Louis Lee Haggin H. will be represented in New York racing this summer. Trainer Howord Hoffman, a native of Sheepshead Bay, but of late the Middlewest, is in charge of the shipment Trainer Morris H. Dixon vanned Tempus Fugit over from Belmont Park for a trial over this racing strip. . . . Accomplish, owned by Leo Edwards, was breezed over Jamaica this morning. The Hialeah Juvenie Stakes winner is under the direction of trainer Lennie Hunt and is prepping for the Youthful Stakes. . . . The first edition of the overnight book for the Belmont Park meeting was distributed among horsemen. Trainer Jim Ryan, who motored down to Garden Stete to saddle Ben Lomond, owned by Mrs. John R. H. Thouron, reported that the colt would be returned to Belmont Park following the"running of the event. . . . -The jockey emigrees to Louisville for the Derby will be back to accept mounts on Monday. The quintet, Arcaro, Ycaza, McCreary, Combest and Valenzuela so instructed their respective agents to that effect. . . . Trainer Yorkie McLeod, who has a draft of horses for the Canadian patron Vernon Cardy, reported that Mr. and Mrs. Cardy will be up from Miami next week for some racing. Leo Myers, one of the veterans of racing, died this morning. He -was a bachelor and was in his early eighties. He had been associated with racing for upwards of CO years and served as commissioner for some of the veteran owners and trainers fn that period. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Straus wirelessed from their ship en route home from a European vacation that they would be on hand for Mondays racing providing that they can clear the customs in time. He is co-owner of the Melody Lane Stable in charge of trainer Homer Pardue. ... In the absence of Fred Caposella, away describing the Derby over the various air media, the public address system a Jamaica has been manned by Jack OHara, doing a double duty here and at Roosevelt Raceway.
