Golden Gate Cap Draws Modest Ten Nominations Hard-Hitting Social Climber Seeking First Tally Saturday GOLDEN GATE FIELDS, Albany, Calif., May 3. — Llangollen Farms Social Climber, who has been second in each of his only three engagements here this spring, will make Tiis fourth bid for a local triumph in the 0,000 Golden Gate Handicap at iya miles here next Saturday. He is one of the nominations announced today for the Pacific Turf Clubs most important event for three-year-olds and older horses. Although the race drew only a modest, number of subscriptions, most of them are stakes-winners and a worthwile contest is in prospect when they are brought together. Social Climber made his first local stand i in the San Francisco Mile and lost "a neck decision to Battle Dance whom he was conceding four pounds, 121 to 117. The Llangollen horse got to the lead in mid-stretch, but gave way to the winner in the last few strides. In his next start. Social Climber participated in an overnight feature, also at a mile, and was beaten less than a length by Bailarin. Here he conceded his conqueror nine pounds, 120 to 111. Social Climbers latest public appearance came in the Sacramento Handicap and, under 120 pounds, he was runner-up to Seaneen, who was carrying two less. In the Golden Gate Handicap, Social Climber will have none of his three latest conquerors to contend with, none of them being made eligible for the stake.
