RIVER SAND was well placed in early stages while saving ground, came to the far outside on the stretch turn and took command a furlong out and came on under mild urging. LUCKY WILLIAM, never far off the leaders, closed with a rush, while racing on the inside through the last quarter. DON TRELETA made up ground steadily while on the inside. ACTRESS MARCY gave way in the stretch after setting the early pace. MONOGRAM gave a dull performance. COME THROUGH, outrun in the first half-mile, closed strongly between horses in the stretch and just lasted to hold ACQUAINT ME. The latter moved out fast in the early stages to get the lead and set the pace midway in the stretch, then weakened slightly under pressure. PLEASURE SCOUT was far back of the field in the first half, moving up strongly while on the far outside in the last quarter, and was closing on the leaders at the end. JONTER gave an even performance while between horses. HASTY DREAM, lacking early speed, moved to the far outside on the far turn, closed fast to take command midway of the stretch, then drew out steadily. JAY RAN, close to the leaders throughout, finished strongly while between horses. SOME TROUBLE came from far back while saving ground. BATTLE OATH raced evenly on the inside. ROYAL FLYER trailed the field for the first quarter, then moved up on the Inside, came to the outside rounding the stretch turn and, under a strong ride, was able to get up in the last few strides. BLACK MASK raced close to the pace from the start, forged to the front a few yards from the finish but failed to resist the winner. NORDAL rushed into the lead on the first turn, drew out going down the backstretch and weakened in the stretch drive. BLUE TUNE improved her position steadily in the last quarter while between horses. HAFTA HUSSLE failed to make up any ground and was on the inside througout. NYMPHS PRIDE tired. STANSWAY escaped interference leaving the starting gate but was forced to take up on the far turn and again entering the stretch for lack of racing room, and forged to the front when clear in the stretch to win going away. BLUE CREST was carried out on the far turn and failed to rally when called upon in the stretch. WILL COMMAND bore out badly leaving the starting gate, causing DARK EMBASSY, BLUE SAFARI, PICAFRIEND and BATTLE TALK early interference, moved up fast after getting straightened out in the first sixteenth and held on with good courage in the final stages. SUN TRAIL gave an even performance. DARK EMBASSY had little chance after early interference. PICAFRIEND was bothered leaving the gate and was never in serious contention thereafter. ALI 0-K, slow to settle in to best stride, closed fast while finishing on the inside the last furlong and got up in the last stride. GAL-AGE made up a lot of ground on the outside in the final quarter and was making a strong bid in the final strides. FUN LOVER had speed from the start and finished strongly betwen horses to get a dead heat with CUDDLING. The latter moved up between horses through the stretch to finish on even terms with FUN LOVER.
