SKATE took command soon aft#r the start and, after settling into the stretch with a clear margin, retained his advantage without need of urging. LILLIAN J. responded readily during the drive, but could not reach the winner. GEMOLOGIST dropped back after the start, drifted out approaching and entering the stretch, then finished willingly. ALAMO raced wide through the stretch. DARLING LINDA, forced back immediately after the start, failed to recover. GALAVAN, prominent until inside the stretch, tired. SWIG showed nothing. SABER DUEL was sent to the outside for the stretch run and, responding to mild urging, disposed of OUR SWEET WENDY and won going away. WATKINS JOY drifted out entering the stretch and then finished willingly, but could not get to the top one. OUR SWEET WENDY reached the front. during the drive, but faltered when challenged by the winner. DOUBLE X. lacked early foot. PERIQUEST codld not keep up. BATTLE DWITE, hustled to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, but had nothing left. BEBBYS BABE, shuffled back after the break, but was unable to enter serious contention. CORKS N CURLS raced with AIRSTREAM from the outset, responded to strong handling during the drive-and outgamed the latter. AIRSTREAM went to the front at once, lost command between calls during the drive and then came again, but could not overtake the winner, just missing. WINE JAR, permitted to drop back after the start, could not threaten the leaders during the stretch run. BATON BLEU had a rough race. COUNTERPARRY tired during the drive. JUST-A-SEC, outrun to the last quarter mile, closed willingly under punishment, but could not threaten the winnet. BEAU FOND and LOVELY HILDY failed to respond during the stretch run. BIG EFFORT saved ground while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, was taken to the outside for the drive and, responding willingly to brisk handling, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. A GLITTER, in hand after racing wide at the initial turn, reached the lead between calls near the finish, but was unable to withstand BIG EFFORT. MLLE. DIANNE raced HOOSIER HONEY into defeat and settled into the stretch with a short lead, but faltered when challenged by A GLITTER. CHIST0SA, away slowly, was caught in close quarters leaving the backstretch, remained on the inside for the drive and lacked racing room through the final furlong. HOPE IS ETERNAL lost ground when sent around horses entering the stretch and could not threaten the leaders when straight for the drive. OIL RICH had early speed. METICULOUS had no mishap. HOOSIER HONEY made the pace until challenged by MLLE. DIANNE and then gave way. WAR EMPRESS was never dangerous. SPAR MAID had a rough trip early and tired. Overweight— Chistosa, 1 pound. SOCIAL LAD, in hand to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and wore down OLD CUTLER in the last strides. OLD CUTLER raced with ICY DAY to the stretch, bore to the inside during the drive and, crowding the latter and SID OLD BOY, held on determinedly but was unable to withstand SOCIAL LAD, then was disqualified for fouling and placed fourth. SID OLD BOY moved up boldly entering the stretch, was forced against ICY DAY and roughed by OLD CUTLER, then could not overtake the top pair. A foul claim aaginst OLD CUTLER by SID OLD BOYs rider was allowed. ICY DAY was racing prominently in the stretch when roughed in the jam caused by OLD CUTLER and, forced to take up sharply lost all chance. BLACK ANDY had no mishap. BAIRAM had a rough trip.
