NTG Secretary to Contact Nations Racing Scribes by Mail CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 2. — Jerry McNerney, secretary-treasurer of the National "Turfwriters Association, announced today he would be in contact by mail with virtually all of the nations racing scribes during the next few weeks in the interest of the recently organized NTA. All turfwriters, columnists and sports editors from recognized publications are eligible for membership in the organization, which is headed by Joe Hirsch, columnist of Daily Racing Form. The group plans to hold its next national meeting during Derby week, 1960, and may present its first annual awards dinner at the same time.
