On-and-On Passes Derby For Allowance Dash Test Takes Six-Furlongs Test by Neck; Ships to Washington This Week CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 2. — Calumets Jimmy Jones declared On-and-On from the 85th Kentucky Derby this morning, and the handsome son of Nasrullah and Two Lea ran instead in an overnight race at 6 furlongs on todays card. The race in which On-and-On compete and won the appropirately named the Tim Tarn Purse in honor of last years Derby winner, with Chris Rogers at the reins, the Nasiullah colt was driven to the hilt to whip Mrs. Paxton Harthills Will This Do by a neck. Preston Maddens Elbruz was third, three and one-quarter lengths back of Will This Do. On-and-On, who raced coupled with Sunny Street, who ran eight in the nine-horse field, paid .00 and ran the 6 furlongs in l:10y5. "Hes hardly up to a race like the Derby," Jones explained "He might get hurt, and rather than gamble on this. I thought wed run him in the shorter race, where he wouldnt have to do as much. He ran kind of a dumb race last Saturday and put in kind of a dumb work this week. He may come along in time but he needs plenty of seasoning." Jones, naturally disappointed at missing the opportunity to shoot for an unprecedented third straight Derby victory, breezed On-and-On through the stretch this morning, which, as it developed was a blowout for the sixth race he was to contest. On-and-On is to leave for Chicago by train early next week where his next major engagement could be the 5,000 Sheridan Stakes at 7 furlongs on June 6, a stepping stone to the 00,000 Arlington Classic at one mile on July 25.
