ANGRY MOOD was sent to the front shortly after the start, opened a clear lead on the turn and lasted over WILL REMEMBER. The latter responded to pressure and was steadily wearing down the winner. MR. LIVELY JET was sent to the front at once, opened a clear lead while saving ground along the backstretch and was ridden out while widening in the drive. GAME STYLE, forwardly placed throughout, saved ground to no avail. LOST JEWEL went wide into the clubhouse turn, rallied while racing into the stretch and faltered. FIRST ROCK rallied in company with LOST JEWEL and weakened. FREEDOMS PEACE, fractious in the gate, failed to show anything in the running. IMPRESSIONABLE was through early. MOYA responded readily to energetic handling in the stretch and wore down ABCINTHE in the final stride. The latter dueled CUTE COUNTESS into defeat after three furlong, then could not hold the winner, while fighting it out gamely. WES PROUD moved with a rush to reach contention in midstretch and faltered badly. PIE CRUST passed tired horses in the drive. MODEL BOROUGH found his best stride too late. CUTE COUNTESS stopped after three furlongs. OUR ANSWER WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED DURING THE* POST PARADE. ALL MONIES WAGERED ON HER WERE REFUNDED. The latter moved boldly leaving the turn to reach contention but could not threaten in the drive. WEE WIGGLE was through after three furlongs. SLEEPY MAN failed to threaten while outfinishing the others. JUNIPER TIME was not a factor. THWART and INSET were always far back. ANNVILLE was well placed throughout and lacked a response. ROBINS LAURIE, lightly steadied on the turn, was taken to the outside for the drive but could not threaten. FIRST PIC, in the front early, duelled with PURPLE HAZE to midway on - the turn and faltered. HILL TOP GEM raced outside horses throughout. MONKEY WALTZ had brief speed. SONNY DAN, taken to the outside in the stretch, responded willingly to strong pressure and wore down SHARPSBURG in the final stride. The latter, saved ground when outrun early, got through along the inside when the leaders went wide turning into the stretch, disposed of LUCKY GEORGE inside the furlong pole, then could not hold the winner. SHARPSBURG worked out a mile in 1:43%. LUCKY GEORGE, rank loading, opened a clear lead on the turn, came slightly wide into the stretch and continued on gamely when headeo. VEGEO weakened after a half. BACKBONE saved ground early, was steered out leaving the backstretch, continued on the outside through the turn and finished evenly.
