G. Gilmores California invader, Fightin Indian, Calumet Farms On-and-On, and Hasty House Farms imported Oceanic n„ head the roster of 16 nominations for Balmorals opening-day feature, the 5,000-added Tri-State Stakes, Monday, at Washington Park. Also named for the new 6 furlongs stakes, which honors the nearby Tri-State Toll-way, are Carrie C. Hillocks Quantrell, who finished a close-up third to First Landing in the second division of the Derby Trial. Also expected to see action in Mondays Tri-State are Jacnot Stables Kentucky Derby starterT Die Hard, and Silver Creek Farms fleet Roman Colonel, who won three straight at Gulfstream Park. Fightin Indian placed in several stakes at Santa Anita last winter, including a third-place finish behind Silver Spoon and Royal Orbit in the 00,0p0-added Santa Anita Derby after setting a blistering pace. The Molter trainee has been working in ; splendid style since arriving with Round Table last month. Won on Derby Day Program Onrand-On gained almost as much fame in not starting in the Kentucky Derby as most of the participants got. The Calumet colt, a son of Nasrullah — Two Lea, thus a half brother to the ill-fated Tim Tarn, scored on the Derby program in a 6 fur- t longs allowance sprint preceding the Run for the Roses.
