Repeat Victory Goal Of Change Girl Today Engages Fast Field in East Liverpool Purse at Wheeling " By DICK KUMBLE Staff Correspbndent WHEELING DOWNS, Wheeling, W. Va., May 12. — J. C. Gallaghers Change Girl will try for her second straight victory at the meeting in Wednesday nights featured East Liverpool Purse. The distance is 6V2 furlongs for a purse of ,050. It is the seventh event. Change Girl carries 113 pounds, including veteran Willie Downs. Her opponents are Mrs. "Virginia Benjamins Miss Carmela, 110, Ray Belanger; Walter Wilkersons Cumberland, 120, William E. Miller; R. E. Gerths Thoacheer, 115, John Shoyat; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bakers Superb Bob, 118, Arthur Green; J. D. Toomaths Runformun, 113, Francisco Saumell; H. E. Stotlers Easter Bunny, 106, Thomas ONeil, and H. H. Horns Po-Ko, 110. Change Girl, who outran some quality fields from the gate at Tropical Park last winter, shipped here from Suffolk Downs. The chestnut daughter of The Battler buzzed 5 furlongs in 1:01% in her first try around these sharp turns here. She is dropping five pounds for this engagement and has both the speed and class to handle this field. Miss Carmela is another fast mare. She chased Sergeant Spook all the way in the Speed Ball Handicap opening night, but disappointed in a later effort. There is a good chance the track will be "off", and that increases the chances of Cumberland, the fashionably-bred son of Citation and Mar-Kell, who was foaled at the Calumet Farm nursery in Kentucky. He won for Wilkerson in the mud here April 27 for ,000. The only other starter who has a local victory is Superb Bob. His was accomplished on a heavy track. The son of Titilator runs best from behind the pace.
