ATTIC BIRD began slowly, was rushed up between horses in the first eighth and, taking command in a hard drive in the last quarter, held MAEANTIC safe. The latter, restrained for half a mile, moved up to the leader, then tired. PHOTOGRAPH showed early speed. GIFT ROMAN closed with a rush on the outside. CHANSON BELLE quit badly in the late stages. YOUNG KITTY, taken back of the pace, moved up again when called on in the final drive and wore AYMOND down, but could not reach the winner. PAT GAIfcTY, well back for the first seven eighths, closed a big gap and would have been secoad in a few more strides. AYMOND quit after racing close to the pace in the early siages.
