Va.f July 7.— Bon-soir, winner of two of his four starts over this track, carried top weight of 118 pounds today and romped to a two and a half lengths victory in the Thomas Jefferson Handicap, closing feature at Charles Town The winner, the best of the field, had most competition near the finish from Just Remember, which was a length and a half before Wandrel. Chatterfol, stablemate of the winner, was fourth, Bright Bird fifth, and Aldershot was far back throughout. Chatterfol and Bonsoir raced as a team passing the grandstand the first time, but when Wandrel drove up on the outside entering the back stretch, it was Chatterfol that was sent along to subdue her. Reaching the far turn, Bonsoir took the lead and coming to the outside, was in hand for the remainder of the journey. Chatterfol was done when he had subdued Wandrel. Just Remember, which had been reserved in fourth place, finished fast to wear Wandrel and Chatterfol down to take second place.
