! i I | . I J . ! ! | I ! ! , « [ FIRST WOMAN TRAINER ] || LICENSED IN ILLINOIS j ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 7.— Miss Mary Elizabeth Hirsch, daughter of Max Hirsch and sister of W. J. Hirsch, both successful trainers, was granted a trainers license by the Illinois Racing Com- mission today, thus becoming the first woman ever to hold such a privilege in this state. Miss Hirsch is the owner of Tartan Betsy, which is racing here, and of Short Wave and Sky Princess, two horses now quartered at Belmont Park. She will saddle Tartan Betsy in that fillys next start here. Last year Miss Hirsch was the owner of Tullihoo and Prize Package, both of which were winners. She assisted in the training I of both these two-year-olds.
