ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES and : s An exercise boy identified as Joe Cassard, formerly in the employ of Edward Haugh-ton, died in a Fort Worth hospital early Monday morning from injuries received when he was struck by a truck -while on the Fort Worth and Dallas Highway near Arlington Downs. The truck, according to the police, was en route to Fort Worth. Haughton went to Fort Worth to identify the body and could not be located at the track Monday afternoon. According to stable attaches Cassard resigned his position Saturday, saying he was going to Louisville. A. J. Cassard rode for several seasons in Cuba and also was in the employ of Sherrill Ward and A J. Halliwell. The deceased was said to have made New Orleans his home. Joe Houston purchased the mare Bos-tonian Gal from A. C. Urban, and she will be shipped to the Houston farm near Lexington, Ky., where she will be retired to the stud. Jens Son, in the stable of Hynes and Beezley, was fired for ankle trouble, j Waldo Freeman has been engaged to train 1 Barney Keen for Mrs. H. R. Merrill. Helmeth Chall, who had his first mount here on Law Suit several days ago, was born in Berlin, Germany. He is under Contract to Mrs. Richard Fairbanks, who purchased his contract from Louis Meripol. Jack Howard secured second call on the services of jockey Earl Porter for the Churchill Downs meeting. Jockey Tommy Luther returned from Tan-foran, where he rode Azucar in the March-bank Handicap. j Apprentice H. Caperton, fully recovered j from the light injuries he received when tossed from Michigan Lad, Friday, resumed riding Monday afternoon. George F. Jenkins plans to dispose of all of his horses and will devote his time to his van business. A fine Easter gift for the Three Ds Stock Farm was a filly from Minnequa, by Kilkenny, born Monday morning. Minnequa was originally owned by F. Sowell, and she broke down last spring during the meeting at Ar- i lington Downs. Instead of destroying the mare Sowell turned her over to "Slim" Till- : man, who brought her slowly back to health.
