MYRTLEWOODS FIRST START LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 14. Barring unforeseen mishaps, the crack filly Myrtlewood and highly regarded three-year-old Grand Duke, both owned by Brownell Combs, will make their first starts of the new year during the Churchill Downs season opening here a week from Saturday. This information was given out here yesterday by Ray Kindred, the Combs trainer who has those two stars and five two-year-olds at Douglas Park. Three of the juveniles are owned by Combs and the others by his brother, Lucas Combs. Among them are two outstanding individuals, a son of St. James and Humanity and a daughter of Infinite and Manta. The colt is a half brother to Grand Duke. Manta starred under the Combs colors for several seasons.
