ARLINGTON LEARNS DERBY NOT SUBJECT TO COPYRIGHT s ARLINGTON, Texas, April 20. On information received that some one was endeavoring to copyright the name "Derby" and to avoid any possible question over infringement of the name Derby in connection with the race run here Saturday, the officials of the Texas Jockey Club wired to Hon. Fritz G. Lariham, congressman from the district in which Arlington Downs track is located, asking him to secure a ruling from the authorities in respect to the matter. A reply was received from Congressman Lanham as follows: "Telegram received. Authorities state names Texas Derby permissible for use indicated by you and that names, single words, titles, slogans, etc., are not subject matter of copyright."
