j CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES | $ $ Jockey Earl Porter left for his Illinois home and will rejoin the F. A. Griffith stable at Detroit. The horses Amos Wallin has here will be transferred to Omaha at the close of this meeting. Jockey Frank Grill will motor to the Nebraska city next week. J. E. Mason, owner of the Spring Valley Stable, has arranged to transfer his stable to Detroit next week. Former jockey Claude Hunt purchased the two-year-old, Weapon, from Joseph E. Wide-ner. She is a daughter of Chance Shot and Mizzie, and will be trained by Dave Shaw. The sale was made by Danny Stewart, who has a division of the Widener horses here. George Brooks, trainer of Theodore Muellers Shady Brook Farm Stable, intends sending three juveniles to the farm next week. The others of the Mueller stable will be shipped to Hawthorne. Jack Carter made another addition to his rapidly increasing string when he purchased Blue Hour from A. B. Letellier. He is a full brother to Early Call, which Carter also purchased from Letellier. Tom Sanford, who serves as steward at Epsom Downs and placing judge at Rockingham Park, is a visitor from his home at Cov- i ington, Ky. Judge Sanford will leave Sunday for Rockingham Park. Nomination blanks for five of the seven stakes to be run during the summer meeting at Arlington Park, Chicago, were received here Thursday by Henry Waterman and will be distributed among the horsemen by Larry Bogenschutz. These features are headed by the 0,000 added Classic, and nominations for all close June 15. Although quite a large number of the more important stables shipping to Latonia will get away Sunday and Monday, there will be no dearth of material for Mondays Derby Festival Day program at Churchill Downs. Festival day starters from some of the larger establishments scheduled to leave before the final curtain will be left behind to fill engagements Monday. The festival day program will consist of eight events, including a race for gentleman riders. The days principal race will be the Kentucky Derby Festival Day Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, at seven furlongs. Entries for the handicap close Friday, with weights and declarations Saturday morning. Jockey Mack Garner wrenched his shoulder when he fell from Chrysostle here Wednesday, and cancelled his mounts for Thursday. He expects to resume riding Friday or Saturday.
