! TWO BOB AND SPARTA j ARRIVE FOR OAKS ; LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 14.— The addition of C. V. Whitneys Two Bob and Hal P. Headleys Sparta to the probable field for Saturdays renewal of the historic Kentucky Oaks places this important race, which will have its sixty-second running, on a par with other fixtures offered at Churchill Downs during its spring meeting. Two Bob arrived from Pimlico, while Sparta made the trek from Belmont Park. While Two Bob was unsuccessful in stakes engagements last season, Sparta was more fortunate, and in Saturdays engagement she will attempt to emulate the feat of her illustrious dam, Alcibiades, which won the 1930 renewal of the Oaks. Although owned by a Kentuckian, Sparta has done most of her racing in the Chicago area, New York and New England. Her recent second to High Fleet in the Artful Purse was enough to convince her owner that she was of Oaks caliber. The pair unloaded none the worse from their journey, and with the exception of "openers" tomorrow morning are ready for the gruelling test that carries ,000 in added money. Jockey Charley Corbett has been engaged to handle Sparta, and according to Jack Healey, who will saddle Two Bob, she will be ridden by an eastern rider. Chief to oppose the invaders will be Charles R. Thompsons Mary Terry, which won the Misses Purse. She turned in a brilliant trial over a muddy track Wednesday morning and is equally at home over a fast racing strip. Morris Vehons Threadneedle, which annexed the Henry Watterson Purse Wednesday; Brendard, from the Dixiana stable; Dora May, Erla, Stepinanna, Marica, Spur Flower, and Asyouwere are others expected to go postward. Although C. V. Whitneys colors have never been triumphant in the Oaks, the eastern sportsman has furnished several favorites for the race. Alcibiades carried the Headley colors to theii first and only victory. As final preparations for the race, James C. Stones Asyouwere and J. S. Rileys Spur P"lower tested the slow track at the Downs this morning. Asyouwere went nine furlongs in 1:501k, handily. She was timed the mile in 1:46%. Spur Flower was limited to seven furlongs, whi h she turned in 1:32, handily. I
