DETROIT TURF NOTES * ■ — e Frank McDonald, turf writer for the Detroit Times and nationally known boxing expert, who has been in a hospital since mid-winter, was able to return to his home Wednesday. It will be some time before McDonald will be able to resume his duties, and "Gabby" Haugh comes from Baltimore to pinch hit for him during the spring season. Judge Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, announced Wednesday morning that the nomination of Fops Hour for the second renewal of the Detroit Derby arrived in the mails. He is a maiden son of Hourless.
