MANYA broke fast, sprinted into an easy lead, made all its own pace and won with something in reserve. CANANA, in close quarters on the inner rail going down the back stretch, came around on the outside entering the stretch, wore down MEGAI, but was doing her best to hold off RUTLAND. The latter lacked speed in the first quarter and closed much ground in the last eighth. MEGAI, closest to the pace in the early stages, tired in the last eighth. TIMBUCTOO had no excuses. SCOUT PLANE broke sluggishly, was forced to work up between the field, caught the leader at the sixteenth post and under hard urging outgamed the latter in the final drive. UNFURL had much early speed, took a clear "lead, but tired when challenged in the last sixteenth. MOLASSES BOB showed a good even race at all times. GERTRUDE BROWN dropped back at the far turn and came again when clear in the stretch. JUSTA GIRO showed a flash of speed for a half mile, then quit. HAPPY HOSTESS ran in spots. GOLDEN EFFORT raced CANTERSINE into defeat, secured a brief lead, but could not liold the winner. PEACE MOVE, slow to begin, made up much ground in the final quarter. CANTERSINE was rushed to the front, held sway all through the back stretch, but tired as if short in the last quarter. BETTY SHAW had no excuses. The others were always outrun. LUNA MICA slipped through on the inner rail all around the lower turn, came to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch, drew clear, took command, then increased his advantage to the end. FORGET NOT sprinted to the front the first half mile, had a clear lead but tired under pressure when put to the final drive. IDLE MONEY forced the pace throughout the first half mile, but tired as if short when the final issue came. IDENTICAL, forced to race wide on the turn, finished well. WISHING STAR trailed in the rear until reaching the far turn, moved around the outside of the loaders with a rush, took command after straightening out in the stretch and won in a handy manner. ANHELATION, also an early trailer to the stretch head, came with a belated rush, but could not menace the winner. PLAYOFF raced LUCK IN into defeat after going seven-eighths. LUCK IN raced next to the inner rail at all times and had no excuses. GOLDEN WATCH tired fast after going three-quarters. Overweight Wishing Star, 4 pounds; Golden Watch, 5. BLACK RIBBON possessed the most speed, held sway at all times, but was going his best at the end to hold off MASTER TIME. The latter, rated along just back of the pace, was slightly bothered when RHODESIA attempted to bear out, came on again under pressure and would have won in another stride. SICKLE HOUR dropped back at the start, moved up with a rush on the extreme outside rounding the stretch turn, but hung after getting on almost even terms with the leaders. REPEAL, rated along well in hand, made a bold bid, but tired slightly when the real test came. ROLLICK showed a flash of speed on the stretch turn, then quit. DOCTORS GIFT, a trailer most of the trip, escaped interference at the stretch head when a spill came, closed fast under punishment, and caught HIGHDRY in the last stride. The latter forced most of the early pace, took the lead after the spill, but could not hold the winner off. GENTLEMAN showed some early speed, dropped back, luckily escaped the jam, and came on again well when clear. PILOTBREAD, reserved off the pace, moved up with a rush at the turn out oL the back stretch, opened up a long lead, appeared to have the race at his mercy when he suddenly swerved into the rail at the stretch head and went down. GETALONG, outrun early, swung to the outside in the stretch, closed gamely under a good hand ride and, wearing down BOLD LOVER, was going away at the end. BOLD LOVERy in close quarters early, was forced to ease back on the lower turn, came to the outside of SERAPHIC KNIGHT in the stretch, took a short lead, but could not withstand the winners rush. HEART BREAK, on the outside during the early running, dropped back slightly entering the stretch, came on again in the final eighth and was going gamely at the end. SERAPHIC KNIGHT broke fast, showed good speed in the pacemaking, but tired badly in the last sixteenth. COLDWATER lacked speed and was never dangerous. Scratched 25942 High Devinc, 101. VAN HASTINGS forced the early running, but tired badly in the final drive. MISS MOO broke slowly and, far back early, closed gamely in the last half mile. DOROTHY W. showed a good effort.
