DETROIT TURF NOTES . For coming over sharply on the others during the run through the stretch in the seventh race Thursday, Johnny Mattioli, who rode Poop Deck, was fined 5. Edward Anthony arrived from Narragan-sett Park with Sun Monk. Jockey J. Longo came along and will do the riding for Anthony. Fred M. Alger, Jr.s Rosemaid was shipped to the Alger farm, where she will be turned out until fall. A. E. Thomas checked in from Latonia with Sioux Chief. J. G. Lang notified trainer C. W. Damon that he would arrive Monday and expects to remain for the greater part of the meeting. Benny Creech departed for Lexington to inspect the foal he has by Dr. Freeland. During his absence "Goldie" Mitchell is looking after the Creech horses. Jockey Glen Smith left for Hawthorne, where he reports to the J. J. OByrne stable. Jockey A. Gray had his first mount of the meeting Friday afternoon. E. E. Mooar was granted a trainers license and will handle Stairs for A. N. Goldenberg. The second issue of condition books for the Detroit season were -distributed among horsemen Friday, H. D. Austin arrived from Ohio with the plater Dunsprite. Webb Everett is distributing stakes blanks for the Arlington Park meeting. The stakes closing June 15 are the Classic, Stars and Stripes, Arlington Handicap, Hyde Park Stakes and -Arlington Inaugural Handicap. The Arlington Futurity and Lassie Stakes closed last fJl. Nominations for the St. Clair Stakes and the Belle Isle Stakes close Saturday. Both will be run Saturday, June 16. The St. Clair, for two-year-olds, carries ,000 in added money, and the Belle Isle, for three-year-olds and over, is endowed with ,000 in added money. Both are sprint affairs, the two-year-old race being a five furlongs dash and the Belle Isle a six furlongs sprint., c , u
