EDUCATIONAL CLUB MEETS CICERO, 111., May 29. A large number of horsemen, jockeys and stable employes were present Friday morning at the first meeting of the Horsemens Social and Educational Club of Illinois. The club has as its purpose the encouragement of all connected with racing to meet for social and educational purposes. The meeting, held at the Hawthorne race track, was weir attended and was addressed by George Foster, secretary of the Illinois State Racing Commission; general manager C. W. Hay of the Hawthorne track; Christopher J. FitzGerald, steward representing the commission, and Dr. George McKillip, veterinarian. The second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday. Two Chicago school teachers, Miss Kath-erine OBrien and Miss Katherine Rapp, have been engaged by the club to give individual instruction to any who desire it. It is planned to have three meetings a week of about one-half hour duration, with talks and discussions on educational subjects, both pertaining directly to horse racing and other elementary subjects. There will be no dues nor charges connected with the club, which is being sponsored by the board of relief for horsemen.
