NOTED BREEDER, CAFF. P.M.! ! WALKER, DIES j NEW YORK, N. Y., June 8. Capt. Phillip M. Walker, owner, trainer and breeder, died at Nassau County Hospital on Sunday from pneumonia. He entered the hospital on Friday and his illness was diagnosed as pneumonia. The body was shipped to his home, Boyce, Va , where interment will be on Tuesday morning. Walker was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and served two years in the Philippines. After his retirement from the army he started breeding thoroughbreds and founded the Page Brook Stud in Virginia where he bred some good thoroughbreds, including The Porter. During the later years when business depression curtailed the breeding market, he branched out as a trainer and took over the Howe Stable in addition to several that he raced for Mrs. Deering Howe, the Sage Stable and himself. He campaigned Only One for Mrs. Deering Howe. He was sixty-five years old. According to present plans, D. C. Harrison, his newphew, and for several years his assistant, will train the horses.
