FASTEST RACE OF MEETING i Accolade Gallops Three -Quarters at Rockingham in 1:11. Defeats Favored Spbri by length in Tan Zareta Handicap Lady Higloss Takes Third. SALEM, N. H., June 8 Running the fastest six furlongs of the meeting, Accolade, fast-running son of Bright Knight and Gelebration, scored his first triumph of the year by accounting for the Pan Zareta Handicap. Running the six furlongs in 1:11, Accolade sped over the line a length in advance of Spixi, the choice. Lady Higloss defeated Go Quick for the minor payoff station. After gaining a prominent position in the opening furlong, Kopel bided his time. Candy Prince was showing fine speed as he sped down the backstretch, with Patriotic under hard urging, in an effort to keep up. Tommy May also had Spixi under pressure in order to keep up. Turning from the backstretch, it was Candy Prince in closest pursuit. Patriotic had found the task of keeping up too great and began tiring steadily. Spixi, as they made the turn, was sent up fast on the inside. Kopel chose the overland route with the Bright Knight gelding and started to improve his position. There was no denying the Donald Christmas protege, who always liked this track, although he had not been a winner since last October. Running free and best of all, Accolade would not be denied as he caught the favorite and went on to win with plenty to spare. In the meantime, the third choice in the betting, Miss A. Doris Lady Higloss, came through to take third, holding off Go Quick in the final charge. The victory of Accolade broke up the streak of the favorites in this opening of getaway week at Rockingham Park. An outsider, Houghton P. Metcalfs Gold Clip, refused to stop today and romped home at 16 to 1 in the first race. But then came three favorites in a row to delight the 6,000 enthusiasts. Willis Sharpe Kilmers Genaibai, graduated from the two-year-old maiden ranks in the second race. Eleanor Granfields Starogan won the third, and Pegotty Ann took the fourth, another two-year-old event. The victory of Gold Clip and Starogan made the "Daily Double" worth 23.60 for ninety-nine persons who took a chance on this combination. The fourth favorite to win during the day was G. L. Weiss El Puma, the 3 to 2 choice in the sixth race, a route event of a mile and a furlong. Everything went according to form in this affair, although the Francis; Stables Idle Along, a rank outsider, set the pace for a mile. Willis Sharpe Kilmers Genaibi, a two-year-old for which there were heavy commissions from all over the country, von the five and a half furlongs dash for juvenile maidens, by two and a half lengths. C. Whittinghams Mock Modesty finished second, a half length in front of Windsor Farm Stables Panther Creek. The winner completed the dash in 1:07 and was ridden by Willie Nertney. She set the pace under restraint for the entire journey and did not begin to draw away until the sixteenth post. Panther Creek was within a neck of her most of the way, but could not withstand.Jhe last-minute challenge of Mock Modesty, who had run in fifth position most of the journey. Starogan, heavily backed choice from the stable of Miss Eleanor Grandfield, won the third event by half a length after leading from the half mile post home. G. T. Han-nas Gay Crest finished second in the five and a half furlongs race, and Forced Landing was third. Hastinip, which set the early pace, tired as they entered the stretch and was quitting in the drive for home. Gay Crest was forced wide on the turn or might have been closer at the finish.. Forced Landing ran third for most of the journey and finished three lengths in front of the tiring Hastinip. The time was 1:12. Pegotty Ann, racing for John D. Spreckels III., California patron, delivered one of her best efforts to turn back the juvenile opposition encountered in the fourth race. The Pharamond II. filly was doing her utmost at the end to have a half length advantage oyer Enfin. Maestrom came in determined fashion through the closing sixteenth to take the show award from Square.
