SALLANDRY, forcing the pace for a quarter mile, was driven to the front, but had to be hustled along all the way and was drawing clear at the end. SUMAC, always close up, made several game efforts, but could not wrest the lead from the winner. MISS MARED could not improve, her position in a game effort. RHYTHMICAL made several lids while running in close quarters to no avail. STOLEN TRICKS lost ground all the way. STEEL TOES was never a contender. The others were outrun throughout. PEACE MOVE could not match speed with the leaders in the early running, began closing up rounding the far turn, came to the outside at the stretch, and continuing gamely, was going away at the end. EDDIE C, running in his best form, took a slight lead entering the stretch, but was not equal to the winners challenge. SWIFT QUEEN had sood early speed 1o the stretch turn, only to. quit when the final test came. DRACO, well up for a half mile, tired slightly thereafter. MOLASSES BILL did not run his best race. UPPERCUT appeared to be crowded back, founding racing room after the start, moved up very fast rounding the far turn to gain the lead at the stretch turn, but was hard ridden through the stretch. MORLUTE, going in good form from the start, came again at the end. GENERAL A. closed considerable ground and, having no excuses, was going gamely at the end. SAND CLOUD dwelt slightly at the start, trailed the field to the stretch and closed fast on the outside. PRECIOUS KING was never a contender. STARRY NIGHT lost ground throughout. GOLDEN EFFORT had good speed throughout and was beaten in the last few yards. GAY BLADE was prominent throughout and made up some ground in the stretch. IRISH HERO closed gamely after being back some distance early. The others were never factors. ROUGH PARTY, showing good speed from the start, soon went into a commanding lead, started to shorten its strides slightly in the stretch run and had to bo driven on at the end to save the major award. SOME GOOD, in a contending position at all times, made a bold attempt in the final run and was wearing the winner down. SCREEN, never far from the leaders, gained some ground on the. far turn and continued gamely to the end. DARK WAR lost ground steadily. ROYAL WAGER could not improve its position at any time. SIX BELLS, slow to find its best stride, closed ground gradually on the outside to be going fastest at the end. JIM BROWN, was gaining at the end. FIFE, never far from the leaders, moved up passing the half mile post, but hung and lost gronnd when the final test came. POPO had speed for a quarter mile and then retired. GOLDEN WORDS lost ground rounding the first turn, then made up ground steadily to take the lead at the stretch turn and continued gamely to the finish. PATIENT SAINT lacked speed for the early running, began to improve its position after entering the back stretch and was gaining from there to the finish. WISHING STAR, lacking early speed, worked its way up gradually and was going well at the end. HOME WORK, showing more speed than usual, was well placed to the stretch turn, then tired near the end. BEAU BON, going in good form from the start, escaped the jam at the first turn, steadily wore down the pacemaker under a hard drive and was up to outlast ROLLICK. The latter met some trouble when the jam came, losing much ground, closed an immense gap and wonld have won in a few more strides. IRA L. disposd of LUCK IN after going three-quarters, but tired when the real test came. MOON ROSE had no excuses. LUCK IN forced the pace throughout, only to weaken slightly in the final test. PLAYMORE, forced to ease back when the jam came, worked into a contending position, then tired. RHODESIA appeared to run up on th heels of SUNNY SUSAN going to the first turn, then bolted to the extreme outside fence, throwing her rider, then went through the fence and was so badly injured she had to be destroyed.
