AGUA CALIENTE NOTES f 4 R. L. "Russ" Brophy, long identified with racing, assumed his duties as manager of the mutuel plant at the track here, which will be opened May 8. Brophy is now passing on applications for employment in his department. Thoroughly gratifying Is the track panorama as observed by judge Ben Holmes, racing secretary, who inspected the plant Wednesday. Holmes just arrived here from Florida. "We in the East had an idea that by being closed two years the barns and other buildings might be in poor condition," said Holmes. "Theyre in fine shape, and as for the track races could be staged tomorrow. Agua Caliente has the finest stables of any track in the world." i
